چکیده
Serum1, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D •k1, 25(OH)2D•l, parathyroid hormone (PTH), calcitonin (CT), calcium, inorganic phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase (Al-P'ase) levels were determined in24patients with senile or postmenopausal osteoporosis, which was diagnosed by lateral X-ray film of lumbar vertebrae and divided into3 stages, porosis score I, II and III according to its severity. Serum calcium in osteoporotic group with porosis score II or III was within normal limits but significantly increased compared to that of the age-matched normal group. There was no significant difference in serum inorganic phosphorus and serum Al-P'ase levels between osteoporotic groups and age-matched normal group. Serum1, 25(OH)2D level determined by radioreceptor assay was significantly decreased in the osteoporotic

Generalized osteoporosis in old age.
It is well known that frequently the bones become rarefied in old age and it is commonly believed that this rarefaction or osteoporosis is a physiological process. Generalized osteoporosis, however, occurs in a considerable proportion of the population long before old age is reached. In the pre-senile group many factors have been held responsible for the thinning of bones, and it seems possible...
متن کاملBone Health in Endocrine Diseases Associated with Androgen Excess: A Narrative Review
Introduction: Osteoporosis is humans' most common bone tissue disease that causes bone fractures. Based on the evidence, a combination of genetic and environmental factors, hormonal disorders such as estrogen deficiency, malnutrition, inflammatory factors, drugs, and physical inactivity are related to the pathogenesis of this disease. The present study aimed to review the effects of androgens a...
متن کامل11β-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 selective inhibitor BVT.2733 protects osteoblasts against endogenous glucocorticoid induced dysfunction.
Pharmacologic glucocorticoids (GCs) inhibit osteoblast function and induce osteoporosis. 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1) may play a role in osteoporosis as it regulates GC action at a pre-receptor level by converting inactive GC to its active form. Further, 11β-HSD1 was found increasingly expressed in bone with age. In spite of these observations, its function in senile osteo...
متن کاملRisk of osteoporosis in endocrine disorders and celiac disease.
Osteoporosis is characterized by a loss of bone mass; the bones become less dense, fragile and prone to fracturing. It is regulated by endocrine-environmental factors with the genetic component accounting for 70% of an individual's variation in bone mass density (BMD). Pathological conditions such as celiac disease (CD) exacerbate the process of bone loss and the presence of osteoporosis in cel...
متن کاملExploration on the relationship between the elderly osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease risk factors.
OBJECTIVE To explore and discuss the correlation between osteoporosis and the risk factors of cardiovascular diseases in the elderly. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 1240 patients, who were hospitalized in our hospital from January 2012 to January 2017, with the age ≥ 65 years old, were selected. All the patients were divided into osteoporosis group and normal bone mass group according to the...
